Christchurch

Known as “The Garden City,” Christchurch is still rebuilding after the most recents earthquakes in 2010 and 2011. It is a major staging point for voyages to the Antarctic to support and resupply permanent research stations there. We spent one night in Kaikoura , a centre for whale watching, just 2 hours north of Christchurch.
