Continuing Nicole’s birthday celebration, we move from Switzerland in to southern France for a canal trip on the famed Canal du Midi. Our rendezvous point is Béziers which is one of the oldest cities in France, dating back to 575BC. Our canal boat, the beautiful Esperance, or Hope in English, is our home for the next six nights cruising the Canal du Midi in splendid luxury.
After a brief stopover at the seaside resort of Le Barcarès, we end our trip in Paris. The highlight was a tour of the newly renovated Notre Dame Cathedral which, internally, feels like it must have felt when it was first constructed.
