Interlaken
Interlaken lies between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz and is an ideal starting point for excursions into the Jungfrau Region.
With only a two-night stopover, we just did the one day trip up to Jungraujoch via Grindelwald and Kleine Scheidegg, returning via Murren and Lauterbrunnen. This is a great introduction to this beautiful region. The journey from Interlaken to Kleine Scheidegg takes around an hour and a quarter and you then board the Jungfrau Railway, which takes you to the Jungfraujoch – also known as Top of Europe – in just 35 minutes, ascending 1400 metres along the way, mostly through tunnels. It’s a showpiece of Swiss engineering! Now we’re at 3,454m elevation and we can certainly feel it!
